Chris Mason is a political correspondent for BBC News.
He is a presenter of Brexitcast, a podcast and television programme centred on Brexit.
Mason was born in Airedale Hospital in Steeton with Eastburn, West Yorkshire. He grew up in Grassington, North Yorkshire, and attended Ermysted’s Grammar School.
He developed an interest in journalism from an early age. He attended Christ’s College, Cambridge and obtained a postgraduate diploma from City, University of London.
Mason began his career through broadcast journalism traineeship at ITN in 2001. A year later he moved to BBC Newcastle and then the corporation’s regional desk at Westminster.
He was a Europe correspondent for BBC News for two years. After a short period as a political reporter on BBC Radio 5 Live, in 2012 he became a political correspondent for BBC News.
In June 2017, he began presenting the podcast Brexitcast and was joined by Laura Keunssberg, Adam Fleming and Katya Adler.
