Mexico take on Sweden this afternoon in the third and final Group F fixture of World Cup 2018.

Mexico are almost through to the knockout stage, following victories over Germany and South Korea in their opening two matches, but need a point to guarantee their progress.

Sweden also defeated the Koreans, and were leading world champions Germany at half-time in their fixture, but Marco Reus and Toni Kroos dragged Die Mannschaft back from the brink.

However, a win for Sweden here – coupled with a draw or loss for Germany – will see them through, and they may also qualify on goal difference if they defeat Mexico by a wider margin than any Germany victory over South Korea.

The sides have only ever met once at the World Cup finals, a 3-0 win for Sweden way back in 1958 when they were the host nation.

Their most recent friendly encounter finished 1-0 to the Swedes in January 2009, with Alexander Farnerud scoring the only goal of the game at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in California.

Reshmin Chowdhury will be live on BBC Two and BBC Two HD from 2.45pm. Match commentary comes from Steve Bower and Phil Neville.

Kick-off 3.00pm

The match will also be streamed live via the BBC iPlayer.
