The men’s major golf season reaches a climax this week at Royal Portrush as the 148th Open takes place.

Francesco Molinari travels to Northern Ireland as the reigning champion.

The Italian’s bogey-free concluding two-under-par round of 69 in Carnoustie last year ensured he won his first Major title, finishing two strokes clear of the quartet of Kevin Kisner, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Xander Schauffele.

The four day tournament, held from Thursday 18th – Sunday 21st July, will be shown live on Sky Sports, with nightly highlights on the BBC.

Sky will show the opening tee shot live on all four tournament days, with 15 hours of live coverage getting underway from 6.30am during the first two rounds.

The action gets underway from 9am on Saturday and 8am on Sunday’s final round.

Sky’s coverage will be fronted by Nick Dougherty, Ewen Murray, Rich Beem and Tim Barter.

Eilidh Barbour will host highlights on the BBC in the company of Peter Alliss, Andrew Cotter, Ken Brown and Ned Michaels.
