The 2019 Solheim Cup takes place this week – 13–15 September – at the Gleneagles PGA Centenary Course in Scotland.
This is the 16th edition of the biennial tournament, which sees the top women professional golfers from Europe and the United States go head-to-head.
It is a three-day match play event between teams of twelve players with a similar format to the Ryder Cup. Juli Inkster captains the U.S. team for the third time and Catriona Matthew captains the European team for the first time.
All three days of the event will be televised live in the UK by Sky Sports, starting with four foursome (alternate shot) matches in the morning session and four fourball (better ball) matches in an afternoon session.
The same format follows on day 2 (Satruday), before 12 singles matches take place on day 3 (Sunday).
With a total of 28 points, 14½ points are required to win the Cup, and 14 points are required for the defending champion to retain the Cup. All matches are played to a maximum of 18 holes. If the score is even after 18 holes, each team earns one-half point.
Sky’s Sarah Stirk presents live from Scotland, with coverage live from 7.30am on Sky Sports Golf on Friday and Saturday ahead of the foursomes matches getting underway at 8.10am.
Sunday’s show runs from 10.30am and runs through until long after the final putt is holed, with a one-hour highlights show available from 11pm on all three tournament days.
The Opening Ceremony will be shown on Thursday, live from 5.30pm.
