BBC viewing figures averaged 2.5m for last night’s Sochi 2014 opening ceremony, which was live on BBC Two HD from 3.30pm – 7.00pm.

Viewing peak at 3.2m for lighting of the Olympic flame, which was lit by two triple Olympic champions, Vladislav Tretyak and Irina Rodnina.
