England take on Ireland in the final match on the opening weekend of Six Nations 2019 this evening.
The match, staged at the Aviva Stadium in Ireland, will be shown live on ITV.
Ireland secured only the third Grand Slam in their history last year, dominating the competition from start to finish, to end up four points clear at the top of the standings.
That momentum shows no sign of stopping, and their performances in the autumn internationals, including a first-ever home win against New Zealand, mark them out as clear favourites to head into this year’s World Cup with another Six Nations title under their belts.
England, in contrast, endured a dismal tournament in 2018, finishing fifth in the table after winning only two of their five matches, although recent displays have shown there is still plenty of cause for optimism for Eddie Jones’ injury-hit squad.
Mark Pougatch will be live on ITV from 4.00pm, where he’ll be joined in the studio by Jonny Wilkinson, Brian O’Driscoll and Clive Woodward.
Match commentary comes from Nick Mullins, Lawrence Dallaglio and Gordon D’Arcy with sideline reports by Martin Bayfield.
