The 2016 Open Championship will take place this week (14–17 July) at the Royal Troon Golf Club in Ayrshire, Scotland.

It will be the ninth Open Championship played at the Old Course of Troon, and the fifth since gaining royal status.

The four-day tournament will be shown exclusively live on Sky Sports, after it had been shown on the BBC from 1955 to 2015. The BBC will have a 2-hour highlights programme each evening.

For the first time in history the opening tee shot of The Open will be aired on television in the UK, and will be available on NOW TV with a free Sky Sports Day Pass to kick off the Championship in style.

On Thursday 14th July, the first day of The 145th Open, NOW TV is offering 24 hours free access to the new ‘Sky Sports The Open’ channel dedicated to the event, plus the other 6 Sky Sports channels available with a Sky Sports Pass.

Six-time Major winner Sir Nick Faldo will join Sky’s team of commentators and experts. He’ll join David Livingstone, Rich Beem, Paul McGinley, Colin Montgomerie, Butch Harmon and Sarah Stirk.

Hazel Irvine will front the BBC’s coverage.
