Joanna Rice – Q&A

Name
Joanna Charlotte Rice

Age
33

Where are you from?
London

How did you get started in Broadcasting?
When I graduated I got a job at London Weekend Television as an Assistant Researcher.

When was that?
10 years ago (1993)

Why news/weather boardcasting?
I’ve always worked in Television in one way or another and although hard it’s a lot of fun and I could have a much worse job!

Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
I regularly do voice over work for Bloomberg and The Travel Channel. I also present the weather from time to time for Carlton in the Midlands and West Country.

What is your Best on-air moment?
Every bulletin that goes well.

What is your Worst on-air moment?
Every bulletin that’s a disaster!

What would like to do before your career ends?
I’d love to present Songs of Praise or a holiday programme, the latter of which isn’t very original. I aways wanted to do Blue Peter but I’m way too old now!

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I practice Yoga and Golf.

What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Be tenacious and never give up. Make yourself unforgettable and if you do get a break, never mind how lowly really make yourself indispensable and remember no task asked of you is beneath you (within reason).

A big thanks to Joanna for taking part.”
