ITV is closing the ITV News Channel after five years on air.

Last month The TV Newsroom reported the ITV News channel was facing the Axe after a one page document outlining a contingency plan for the “imminent closure” of the ITV news channel was left on a printer at the HQ in Gray’s Inn Road.

The future of ITV News Channel has been in doubt since its hours on Freeview were halved two months ago to make way for ITV’s new Mens channel, ITV4.

A Children Channel will take the News Channel’s freeview slot in February ’06

The News Channel will go off air at 6pm on Friday 23rd December ’05.
