Sky News has launched a new free app for BlackBerry smartphones.

This means that Sky News is available on all the major smartphone platforms available in the UK.

The app allows users to stay up to date with breaking national and international news, which can be received direct to their mail box. Users can also send stories and pictures from their device straight to the newsroom.

James Weeks, Executive Producer, Sky News Interactive, said: “We are delighted with the development of this app and the opportunity to broaden the reach of our journalism. With Sky News available on BlackBerry smartphones we now have all bases covered, if you have a smartphone, we have a product for you.”

Over 4.3 million people have now downloaded Sky News mobile applications, via, iPhone, Android, Windows and iPad.
