In addition, the Judges’ Award and the new Outstanding Contribution Award will be handed out at the discretion of the jury.

The BBC leads the way with 24 nominations overall across 16 of the 20 categories, followed by Channel 4 with 12 nominations. Sky News are nominated for just three awards, including News channel of the year.

“The Television Journalism Awards celebrate news teams that play a key role in injecting creativity and exceptional research into journalism, and are dedicated to providing the UK with the most important and dramatic stories from across the world,” said Sue Inglish, Chair, Television Journalism Awards.

“The juries praised the range, depth and quality of the journalism and television production skills among this year’s entries and we are very much looking forward to awarding the well-deserved winners on the 27th February.”

The awards ceremony will be hosted by ITV News presenter Mary Nightingale on the 27th February at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
