This morning, Her Majesty the Queen will lead the nation’s Remembrance Sunday commemorations from the Cenotaph in Whitehall.

The prime minister, leading politicians, representatives of many of the world’s religions, dignitaries from around the Commonwealth and military leaders join thousands of veterans from countless conflicts for the two minute silence, service and march past.

The BBC will also have several interviews, live and pre recorded, with men and women who have served in conflicts past and present, including with Robin Scott Elliot, who looks back on his family history to his great grandfather, Bertie Anderson who was killed in 1918, the last year of the First World War.

Colonel Matt Jackson of the Royal Marines. On Remembrance Sunday last year he was commanding 40 Commando in Afghanistan, this year he joins Sophie Raworth live in Whitehall to reflect on the 445 lives lost in Afghanistan and the importance of remembrance to today’s armed forces.

And, Eileen Younghusband. Now in her nineties, Eileen was one of an elite group of women who worked in great secrecy providing vital information for the RAF’s air defence against enemy bombing during the Second World War. Now, decades later, Eileen remembers her time as a woman at war.

David Dimbleby and Sophie Raworth presents the coverage from 10.20am on BBC One and BBC News Channel.

The ceremony will also be live via the BBC Website: bbc.co.uk/tv/bbcone/live
