President Barack Obama will be publicly sworn in for his second term today.

The BBC News Channel and Sky News will have live coverage throughout the day from Washington DC.

Here is today’s schedule (UK time):

1.45pm – Service at St. John’s Episcopal Church
2.30pm – Performances by Public School 22 Chorus, Lee University Choir and United States Marine Band in bleachers on Capitol Hill.
3.45pm – Parties depart White House for Capitol building
4.18pm – Joe Biden and Barack Obama families take their seats
4.45pm – Vice President Biden sworn in
4.50pm – James Taylor sings America the Beautiful
4.55pm – President Obama sworn in
5.00pm – Inaugural Address by the president
5.34pm – Beyonce sings the National Anthem
8.30pm – Obama takes part in procession along Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House from where he will review the parade.
10.30pm – Parade ends.

A round up of the day’s events will be shown on the evening news bulletins, which are on BBC One at 6pm & 10pm, ITV at 6.30pm and 10pm, Channel 4 at 7pm and Channel 5 at 5pm and 6.30pm.

The news channels will also show the best bits of the Inauguration throughout the night.
