BBC News presenters such as Fiona Bruce and Dermot Murnaghan are to peform their own version of the Queen hit Bohemian Rhapsody on Children In Need night.

The duo, along with fellow presenters Bill Turnbull and Natasha Kaplinsky, will perform the hit in long-haired wigs and Lycra suits to “headbang” along to the rock hit.

Other members of the newsteam such as ex-Political Editor Andrew Marr will also feature. The Sunday AM presenter will play the guitar during the performance.

The rendition of the song, which is one of rock music’s best-loved singles, will be shown shortly after 11pm on Friday 18 November on BBC One.

Kaplinsky told the Radio Times: “This is a chance to show everybody that we can have a laugh, too.”

She added: “For the rest of the year our job is to be serious. I think that’s why people enjoy watching us.

“Every year, I say: ‘This is the last time I’m going to make such a fool of myself’. And every year I find myself coming back for more humiliation.”

Murnaghan said Queen’s music had been “the soundtrack to my school days”.

He said: “Even I can’t ruin Bohemian Rhapsody, can I?”
