The BBC has joined forces with Al Jazeera English, Sky News and CNN to broadcast a programme to raise awareness about the kidnapping of BBC Journalist, Alan Johnston.

The programme will broadcast on BBC World, BBC News 24, Al Jazeera English and Sky News with packages and live reports from the broadcasters, looking at day-to-day life in Gaza as well as the threats facing journalists around the world.

The head of BBC World, Richard Porter said ?We don?t think this has ever happened before. All the broadcasters involved share a common aim to highlight Alan?s case and to remind viewers of the dangers faced by their news teams more frequently than ever.?

The BBC Director-General Mark Thompson is set to travel to the Middle East to appeal for Alan?s release.

The Programme will air at 1430 BST on Thursday 12th April.
