BBC News to undergo rebranding exercise

The BBC is looking to rebranding all of its domestic news outlets, including BBC News 24 under the BBC News name, according to MediaGuardian.

Both News 24 and the BBC News website are to undergo the first changes within the next few months to bring them in line with the updated maroon and grey colour scheme introduced to National bulletins in May.

News 24 is likely to recieve a new on-air look and, changes to the website are said to have already been “signed off.” They are expected to go live soon.

In the longer term, News 24 is also likely to be rebranded as simply BBC News. This is part of a move to create a uniform brand across all the corporation’s output on TV, radio and online.

Its likely to be more than a year before the rebranding exercise occurs.

However, a BBC Spokesman told the TV Newsroom that “It’s in our interest to keep our programme brands fresh, but there’s no imminent changes planned for News 24.”
