When the next election is called (for May 2005 in my opinion), this will be the first general election I will be able to watch on Sky News (but Sky News' 4th general election). Can I ask where I may find archive images of past general election coverage on Sky News and what is being planned for 2005?

I would recommend http://www.tv-ark.org.ukTV Ark as a good place to start - it is interesting for past Sky News stuff in general.

You could also try http://thetvroom.comThe TV Room, which also has various clips from Sky News, though I don't know if they have any election stuff.

We shouldn't blow our own trumpets.. only occasionally.. but, in the posts above the election date of 5/5/5 was called twice B) - the very same date the Sun is leading with on its front page this morning.. all other papers haved picked up on it too.

On these forums you can find breaking news a full five days in advance of it happening.. thanks jonnie, you've created a wonderful thing!

If I had a little more conviction, I would have gone to the bookmakers the day after the last election and placed a bet on May 2005 (simply because Labour needs the county council elections to bring out Labour voters)

So, we have a date, when can we start expecting some indications on election graphics?

My guess is it will be like the US elections with the counter at the bottom of the screen but a bit smaller (like when they covered the local council elections earlier in the year)

I have coverage of the graphics leading up to the election and beyond (before they adopted their current studio look)

And I hope those graphics make a return throughout the campaign leading up to and including election night.
