hmm

just noticed a new Sports key - it was a pale blue colour with rings (like an athletics track) and it had SPORT written in the middle of it in a sort of pixellated font.

they're just doing this to tease us - i'm sure!

Darker Blues?

The budget on screen graphics were darker, the new active bug is darker, when Littlejohn had the graphics tweeked the contact graphic is darker. Is this a sign of what's to come? (If they ever do!)

It may well be

Their "Budget Box" header on the site also has a darker blue colour as opposed to the usual light grey colour..

I'm thinking we may not see the new graphics until Sky News move into their new building.

Surely when Sky News moves they will have a new desk, new newsroom, which will be a new on air look, So surely it would be a great time for Sky News to change to New GFX's, New Ident ETC....

Whatever happens, it'll be well worth the wait.

So, we're looking at January now then?

I haven't heard nothing so the GFX may still come in the next few weeks/months. But i thought that now they are changing buildings they may wait until then.

What makes you say January? is that when they are moving?

Well I recall reading somewhere that they were going to start building the sets/galleries/newsrooms etc in September. Give it a couple of months, so January seemed the most logical date to move in.

But, we all know sky news works to a different logic to everyone else though!

It probably won't! - We will have been waiting so bloody long that by the time it actually happens we'll probably all end up saying, is that it?

Maybe the new graphics will be launched when Sky News reaches its next birthday.

I thought that they might relaunch when they move to their new studio, with completely new graphics not just a tweak. Probably in time for the general election (like in 2001) to give us something fresh for the extensive coverage.

Have they changed to the new graphics system as the animation on the strap looks at lot smoother and sharper??

Yes they have changed the system. I have noticed it on the Breaking News strap. Although i must say I don't like it. The "Breaking news" is too close to the Slug and the font seems to be a little smaller.

Maybe we will see more changes in the next few days.

Although i doubt we will see any new on screen GFX - I think they will launch a brand new look in Jan.

I wouldn't rule out any new graphics in the near future. As you said, the gfx generator has been upgraded, and I have also noticed that the Westminster backboards have changed to the new style idents (the ones airing in oz) - it's a map of britain (again) only it seems to be in a purpley-red colour.

I have heard that the new on screen graphics will be coming this Monday at 6am.

I have heard this from 3 different people - so I am 99% sure we will see the new graphics this Monday (19th)

Surely they'd be similar to Sky News Australia's new opens.[/img]

Have just heard from my source in the Sky News Centre that changes are on the way tomorrow morning - but not sure that it'll be the graphics. Anyway what I do know is that the "Sunrise" programme will have a different look to it - seems all the giving out may have finally paid off! Can't get info on exactly what's going to happen but let the speculation begin about soft areas and all the rest. And I do wonder after all the pairing arounds of the last few weeks who will be presenting it!!! Roll on 6am tomorrow!

oh ok - I heard that the re-launch will be at 6am on Monday - I wonder if it is just 'Sunrise' having the make over or the whole on screen presentation

I look forward to the 'new look' tomorrow - hopefully the new graphics will go with the music slightly better than the current set.

I thought i also saw a "the top stories" strap on the newswall - which was very similar to the current breaking news strap.

I heard that the new graphics will be red and white - with the blue taken out of all straps.

I also heard that windows keys will be dropped from all sports graphics.

We shall soon find out.....

That is the 15 years of Breaking News ad that they have had running for a while. Interesting to see what they are going to do tomorrow, a new look for Sunrise would be brilliant, as would the long awaited new graphics. Any idea about what Sunrise will be like?
