Sky News Branding

So should Sky News have their branded programmes, erm... branded?
Ford example should we have an ident that says Sky News Sunrise, Today, At Ten, Nine O'Clock News etc...
I think we should, and i also believe they should perhaps have a second studio for certain programmes, instead of them all coming from the newsroom.
Sunrise could have a warm yellow glow in certain parts of the studio etc.
Your views appreciated.

And for the graveyard shift they could have to whole studio pitch black!
Only joking,
I do think that's a good idea - it might be taking it a tad far if the studio was lit differently for different programmes, but maybe different rooms - I mean Littlejohn and Sunday with Adam Bouton aren't from the newsroom, so what's stopping them doing the same for other slots.
For Sunrise you could even go as far as having a new top of the hour intro (same music though) with the sun rising merged in with the current one somehow.

When talking about lighting the studio i didn't mean the WHOLE studio! No, far too much, LOL
But perhaps something like BBC One National News, where thoses side panels are lit red, but with a different twist.
EDIT: I think it would be a good idea for Sunrise to come from a purpose built set, with a mini-newswall, a desk, and a soft area

I've got to say that I'm quite undecided about this issue. I can see both sides of the coin. Different 'branding' for different programmes will give them a clear identity and that has benefits. However, in its current state you pretty much know what you are getting with Sky News whenever you switch on. That too is beneficial.
Of course it is ulimately about audiences, who in turn drive the ad revenue for Sky News. For perhaps the past decade, or just under, Sky News' audience has stayed pretty stagnant. You might think that it should have rised recently - larger subscription base - but of course News 24 and ITV have come on to the scene. What I think all this tells us is that the superficial things have relatively little bearing - I'm NOT saying no bearing at all - people actually care about the content of news. The main reason I believe that Sky News is watched is because it has a reputaion for being fast, albeit too fast on occasions. It also presents the news in a digestible fashion.
One thing I am sure about, is that they shouldn't have a soft area, it'll be too GMTV and BBC Breakfast News.

I think the BBC need to bring back a desk, as well as a sofa, but that is not the point.
They could 'do a BBC News' as such, and create a corporate look. Slightly different music, and opening titles, but all clearly linked. This has proved very well with BBC News, and i think it could suit Sky News as well

I think if you asked Joe Average viewer of BBC News they wouldn't know that they were differently branded.

Lets all remember that SKYnews was like this before the 2001 election coverage. They had a soft sofa set for World News updates, Sunrise, and they presented the 9 O'Clock bulletin from blue-screen, with a special look for the 10 o'clock news, and a segment during the afternoon called Your Call.

With the original 1999/2000 corporate look it was more obvious, but still is. You have Breakfast, the One, Six and 10 O'Clock News programmes, as well as News 24 and Newnight, all looking similar, yet clearly different.

Yes I think there should be some differentiation with SNUK's programming.
Sky News Australia have different names:
6-8:30am
SKY NEWS FIRST EDITION
12-1pm,3-4pm,9-10pm
SKY NEWSHOUR
5-6pm -
FIVE LIVE
6:30-8:30pm -
SKY EVENING NEWS
Surely BskyB could just put the word SUNRISE, TODAY and LIVE AT FIVE under the sky/news titles.
These were what they had up until March. The text has since changed with the new look.

I would not mind simply "SKY NEWS-LIVE AT FIVE" OR "SKY NEWS OVERNIGHT"
bUT DIFFERnt sets for different things...no way(a soft set for sunrise im totally against)--If we want soft sets we go to GMTV
Perhaps 2 or 3 different sets, but all in a similar style would work for a bigger organisation like BBC News, but maybe not Sky news.
As for sofas, the BBC have had sofa areas, in 1986, then again in 1997, and in 2000. It gives more flexability, for discussion and interviews

Yeah we all want a genuine bona-fide News at 10, with different lightening and music just like in the old days. At present there isn't any branding apart from Today, Adam Bolton and Littlejohn. Live at Five goes through periods of being distinguishable on good days, then just looks identical to 1-5 on others.
Put the "sun" back into "sunrise" lets see seem nice gold rays back.
