Sky are covering Jane Tomlinson's ride from Rome to Leeds. Ian Dovasten is with Jane and has been since Sky started covering Jane's battle with cancer.

Jane and her partner left Rome this morning (Monday) and was live with Ian at 5.45pm from Viterbo - 55 miles from Rome

But I am just wondering if Ian is riding with them - or jumping into a Sky link-up van and driving to the live destination?

Well, when Ian covered Jane's ride from Lands End to John o' Groats (sp?) he did the cycle ride. During the interview on Live at Five, Anna or Chris mentioned it and Ian replied that he was cycling and didn't now how Jane managed it.

yesterday he was all dressed up in cycle gear and on a bike, so the illusion is that he is cycling with her - whether that is the actual case, only they know!

Ian Dovaston is a proffesional journalist and wouldn't set about to deceive the viewer in that way. The last journalist to do that, and get caught, was James Forlong. Need I say more.

I wonder if Ian has shared some of the cycling with Jane - I noticed she was riding a tandem

Yes! In fact, at least once in the long piece with the chilled music, I was sure that Ian was on the back of the tandem while Jane's brother was on the single bike. They were all wearing yellow macs though, I think in a ploy to hide this!

She rides with somebody she knows, I really can't remember who (could be her brother).

Ian and the camera man have their own bikes.

It is her brother, Luke.

I know Ian has his own bike, but I think he sometimes hops on the tandem wth Jane.

Could be wrong though.

I'm using my memory from the original UK ride, so could be incorrect. You quite obviously have superior knowledge that me in this area, and bow in your presence

Is Ian still on the journey? I haven't seen him for days and live links seem to just be with Jane.

As far as I recall, they said he'll stay with her all the way, unless something else came up!

Well, she is more interesting than Dov after all. It's her journey, innit?

He still deserves some credit for taking part and showing so much strength and motivation on such a long road, doesn't he.

So, he's supposed to be reporting the news, not making it.

He probably can't do the reports because his bum is too sore.

Who said anything about him making the news??

I meant that he deserves some credit in a general sense and I wouldn't worry about his sore bum too much, as he is not speaking with it.

I couldn't agree more! What next? We'll be giving the reporters awards for bravery, investigative ability, ingenuity and so forth.

The guy could quite easily report this from a satellite truck that follows Jane and her brother. He's actully riding the ride with them. That should be applauded.

Regarding Ian Dovaston supposedl riding with them, did anyone see Jane and Luke arrive at Sky News outside teh studios today, and Ian was there in a suit, ready to greet them?

Wonder what happened to him riding the whole journey??

I know! I doubt that he cycled the route with them at all!!!

He probably just borrowed a bike off some poor kid in whatever twon they were in, so they could get a bit of footage of him cycling.

That was cool that she cycled into the studio. Did anyone go along to see her? Where are the Sky studios anyway? I heard they were west London somewhere.
