Sky News has been heading downhill so fast in recent months that drastic action was needed.

Part of the problem is all the Breaking News, Sky News Alert rubbish.

Don't preach to us, let us watch and make up our own minds.

BBC News 24 is much more staid than Sky News, but does what it says on the tin - it presents the news.

Sky is too much about the personality of the presenter.

Paula Middlehurst and Faye Barker. They had some breaking news stories and Faye was struggling at times. Paula was excellent as usual. Are these 2 freelancers?

He has been doing the sports reports lately, probably because they have some presenters out at the WC

I've never liked Faye. Why are they putting her on air at all?

There are only two presenters who I do not like. One of them is homophobic and the other is up her own arse.

Apart from that, I am okay with the presenters, including Faye. She is simply new to this ball game and is in a VERY downbeat atmosphere at the moment.

Sadly, the two who I don't like are still there. That along with Juliette's exit has also left me plain disgusted and fed up of a news channel that is becoming a joke amongst the industry.

I doubt the new leadership and scheduling will do anything to prove me wrong!!

Did Sky News need to move into a new studio? They have admitted they messed up changing the format so could they have stayed in the old studio?

Lucy worked until 12.30 and then they showed CBS for half an hour and then they had some new guy on for an hour and then he was replaced by Georgie Bingham. How can they let presenters like Ginny and Juliette go and then take on new presenters for nights?

Good point, I thought there were laws preventing that sort of thing. Still, I'm sure Sky lawyers know what they're doing.

I never got his name but I have never seen him on Sky before. It does seem wrong though, morally if not legally, to axe jobs one day to cut costs and then a few days later, take on new staff

I would agree with that; unless of course, they've moved presenters in from other disciplines. Sounds as though someone's taken a pen, written a new budget figure and said "get it sorted". I really hope Sky do get it sorted, regardless of their current position, they're still my favourite news channel, with the best presenters and content.

Maybe they had contractual terms that said they wouldn't do nights. Plus, Foster in particular was probably earning a fortune so they can get new people in at a fraction of the price.

Maybe the 'new guy' (not sure who he is so can't comment with that much authority) was rostered in before the job cuts were decided.

He's most likely non-contract, or he could have been on some sort of trial so his employment has no effect on the redundancies made last week.

I guess Ginny was earning even more because she had a regular slot as part of SNT, while Juliette was on weekends and worked as a replacement.

Martin Stanford can talk the hind legs off of a Donkey. Poor Emma Crosby didn't appear to be able to get a word in edgeways, not that that, was her fault.

Still, they both worked well this morning.

Emma Crosby was presenting Business report yesterday. Is this a first with Sky?
