Analog signal showing in full 4:3 area - no bars

but as someone else said, does that give you a lack of the sky.com/news graphic on the left?

i've tried all the option with my freeview pci card, i can either choose to see w/s with bars, 4:3 or zooming in.. either way it all looks good, in my opinion. i even like the zoom which misses out the sky.com../..ws - it puts the LIVE in the top-left perfectly and all looks nice. ..so i think they've thought about all options.

HSE ISSUE! Watch out for that orange juice on the desk.. lots of equipment there to spill over. and eamonn's hand are gesticulating a lot. hmmm.!

Anyone else think the graphics are too quick? Like the one that had Matt Smith's name up at the start of the Kate Bush article, it was up what seemed like half a second before going again.

And during the same report there was a "1987" white on blue box top left which really doesn't show up very much and looks like it was lost. I noticed in a report about the Hurricane that they had one with a location on it too, which looked equally out-of-place and odd. (ITV-esque, as already mentioned)

I'd like to see that thin strap above the main info strap (the tallest one, above the ticker) in red instead of white/blue. Maybe that's just because the old style used to be but I think "top stories" in red would look better than the blue? Maybe they're saving that for a breaking news though... oh come on let's have some massive event break... report on a river bank bursting due to the heavy rain or something!

those rolling newspapers make me feel queesy

Not just me then? I think they sort of needed to be more washed out didn't they? It was a bit hard to see a clear difference between what you're actually looking at compared with the overpowering background.

They're using more washed out newspaper graphics in the background during Derek's newspaper review... Interstingly the "rolling newspapers" that were used earlier, are on the newswall in the background.

On the blue ticker strap? The Sky News logo, and to the left of that the Active red button, website address, email address - it changes between them.

Why did they have to bring in the widescreen format, it's cut the active button off for me(not that it matters, its just annoying), EXTREMELY BAD POINT SKY.

I have to say, I am impressed by the studio but do not like the graphics, for some reason. Also, when they have a split screen with a VT playing at one side with the reporter at the other, there is just a blank box under the VT and it doesn't look quite right. I like the newswall, though.

I am impressed at the clarity of the ticker and graphics. It's not shouting at us in CAPS anymore and is smaller, so leaves more screen-room.. for the pic rather than bulky graphics. ..weather looks nice, but is the the revolution Francis promised in his mediaguardian article? hmm?

JohnnoBoy - can you not just flick through your tv's zoom options and see what one you like best?

fair enough on the pickiness! but on the widescreen downstairs, the ticker is really quite squashed and small.. the other view on the font spacing etc, they might have really thought about it and worked out that was a great font for viewing from a distance..

if you're working out, jumping up and down.. or watching in a newspaper newsroom/financial centre/whatever, it might be that those little spaces make the words clearer to the eye?

'fraid I've got to be picky about the ticker (sorry). The kerning of the font used on it is awful - look at the gaps after (to the right of) an 'a' 'o' 'rn' join together too much, 'n' seems too far too the right 'ne' from news has no gap between the 'n' and 'e'. The letters are all over the place and it seems some are too "left" and some "right" and it just looks untidy. Must purely be down to the typeface that they've used, but I'm a little dissapointed it wasn't picked up before they launched it (assuming it wasn't - maybe they know about it but couldn't do much in time for the launch?)

This is how the left-hand side of the picture is being cut off on 4:3 (based on previously predicted new look supplied by Martin Anderson)

Is this the gallery in the background, as it looks different from what I have seen previously?

it looks like the main, larger font is the same as the small one, but the gaps are less noticable.. things like the top of an r runs into an a. ..also, well done SimUK for helping them out with the newspaper background! I was wrong earlier about being able to read the smaller text on the papers. ..you could read the 5/6 smaller headlines at the bottom of the guardian yesterday, but not now. ..i'd prefer them in a higher resolution or expanded a bit.. ..if possible, people?

can you ask, simuk - they listen to you!
