Frank will be sentenced today
A former TV news anchorman was facing jail today after being convicted of hitting his partner when she tried to end their relationship.
Frank Partridge, 50, threw a glass of water in the face of Pamela Downs and struck her above her left eye during a row at their luxury home in Buckinghamshire last July.
Last month, High Wycombe magistrates heard that trouble flared after Partridge refused to go to the counselling service Relate to resolve problems in the 17-month relationship with 49-year-old Miss Downs, a continuity announcer.
Partridge, of Savay Lane, Denham Green, was sacked from Sky News in December 2001 after a bust up with co-presenter Kay Burley.
He had denied assault, saying he was provoked.
But when Partridge was convicted, he was warned that custody was an option because of the gravity of the offence.
He was being sentenced at High Wycombe Magistrates Court.
