Just two matches from Euro 2016 will take place today – both from Group F – as day five of the competition is upon us.
The day’s coverage starts at 4.30pm on ITV as Austria take on Hungary at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux in France. Austria’s only previous appearance in this competition was in 2008 when they qualified as co-hosts.
From 7.30pm on BBC One, Gary Lineker fronts coverage of Portugal v Iceland, which takes place at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Etienne.
The Portuguese recovered from a shock 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Albania in their opening qualifier to win their remaining seven fixtures and finish seven points clear of the Albanians at the top of the table.
Unsurprisingly, much of their success in qualifying was down to Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored five of their 11 goals, and the Real Madrid star will be keen to add an international trophy to his impressive collection of club and individual honours.
They will begin their campaign as favourites in this fixture, but Iceland’s impressive qualifying campaign shows they cannot be taken lightly.
They finished two points behind group-winners the Czech Republic, but ahead of Turkey and the Netherlands to reach the first major championships in their history.
Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson proved to be his side’s key man during the campaign with an impressive six goals, and will be looking to help his nation’s fairytale continue into the knockout stages.
