WWE said: “We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
We’re not sure why this release came about, but it may have something to do with WWE’s position on talent using streaming media.
I support unionization.

Vega had been with WWE since 2014. She was used as one of Adam Rose’s “rosebuds”, and lost a match against NXT Women’s Champion Asuka on the October 26, 2016 episode of NXT.
In April 2018 during the Superstar Shake-up, Vega and Almas were both drafted to the SmackDown brand.
Vega made her debut for the brand on the May 15 episode, accompanying Almas in a match against a local wrestler in which he was victorious.
She recently went on a singles run. On the 14 September edition of Raw, she interrupted and confronted Asuka.
A week later on Raw, Vega defeated Mickie James for a title match against Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship at Clash of Champions, which she lost via submission.
As part of the 2020 Draft in October, Vega was drafted to the SmackDown brand.
There’s a bit more behind the scenes to the Zelina Vega release. Frustration from both sides is an understatement. While it can’t be directly tied to today’s news, Aleister Black recently requested to move back to NXT and was denied. Dissension amongst the parties involved.
