The BBC has announced the line up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.
The five-star line-up will bring together stars of stage and screen, sport and entertainment, they are:
Former world featherweight boxing champion Barry McGuigan will dance with Erin Boag. Barry said: “I’m looking forward to Strictly Come Dancing, it’s a challenge. I’ve always considered myself to have two left feet and I want to surprise myself!”
Hi-De-Hi legend Su Pollard will dance with Anton Du Beke. Su said: “Strictly Come Dancing is strictly must-see Christmas Day television. I’m hoping to wow the judges and the viewers with my utter exuberance and prowess!”
Popstar Simon Webbe from Blue will join professional dancer Katya Virshilas. Simon adds: “Strictly Come Dancing is one of my mum’s favourite shows. It’s always nice to learn something new, the dancing part of my brain is dormant and I want to wake it up. I also want to wear something tight and sparkly!”
Comedienne Debra Stephenson will dance with Ian Waite. Deborah says: “I’m a really big fan of Strictly Come Dancing. I’m very excited to be on the Christmas Special and I can’t wait to get my dancing shoes on!”
And completing the line-up is EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks, who will take to the ballroom floor with Vincent Simone. Charlie says: “I’m a massive fan of the series and there’s no way my daughter would have let me turn down such an amazing opportunity to be on the show. I love to be challenged and I’m really looking forward to taking to the dance floor with Vincent.”
The five new stars will perform a variety of glittering routines in a bid to impress the judges and studio audience, who will vote for their Christmas champion.
The Strictly Come Dancing 2011 Christmas Special will air on BBC One and BBC One HD.
