Ruth Brown bookies new favourite to win BBC’s The Voice UK

Soul singer Ruth Brown has moved ahead of rival contestant Jaz Ellington to become the bookies favourite to win The Voice. Leading online betting comparison site can confirm that the 20-year-old Londoner is a best price 5/2, with Jaz Ellington just behind at 7/2 to win the competition.

So far this series, 27-year-old gospel singer Jaz Ellington has consistently topped the bookmakers’ leader board, after impressing the judges at his first audition. It is a different story for Ruth Brown, who is one of a handful of remaining contestants to have had odds longer than 30/1 to win after their first audition.

Brown and Ellington now both have a clear lead ahead of the other artists, with third favourite David Julien at 10/1.

Teams coached by and Sir Tom Jones will be taking part in this weekend’s show, which will see four acts leave the competition. Jaz Ellington, Joelle Moses and Frances Wood have reportedly been struck down by a sickness bug and are currently unable to rehearse for tonight’s show.
