After winning a Gold medal at this year’s Olympics in boxing, Luke Campbell is now hoping he can make his home city of Hull proud by performing well in Dancing on Ice.
Describing the last 12 months as a very ‘crazy year’, Luke – who struck gold in the bantamweight division at London 2012 – says he decided to take part in the competition because he loves taking on new challenges so much.
“I am on a mission to make my home city proud of me,” he explains. “When I won Gold at the Olympics, the support from the fans was unreal. I couldn’t have asked for anything more from them. I want to do the same again. I want to represent Hull well in Dancing on Ice.”
“2012 has been a crazy year but it’s something I have worked towards for 13 years. It is crazy to think I have been working so hard for one moment. But I had that moment and it was brilliant. It will be with me for the rest of my life. Now it is all about going on, building and taking on new challenges in life and trying to accomplish them.”
“Doing Dancing on Ice is brilliant. It is a great new challenge for me and I am really enjoying it.”
