Abz Love is a member of boyband 5ive, who have sold almost 20 million records. He began singing at an early age and attended the Italia Conti stage school.
In 1997, his teacher at Italia Conti suggested that he should audition for a boyband that was being put together by Simon Cowell. The band went on to be hugely successful around the world. Their self-titled debut album and 1999 collaboration with Queen, We Will Rock You, both reached No 1 in the UK charts.
About a year after the group broke up, Abz enjoyed a brief but successful solo career, releasing the album Abstract Theory in 2003, which produced three top 10 singles in the UK. He admits that he threw all his money away on a champagne and drug lifestyle.
Abz credits his girlfriend Vicky for saving his life: “I had therapy for a bit but it didn’t really work,” he said. “The only way I got through it was because of my girlfriend. She gave me a reason to live. Every day is a bonus now. I thought I knew it all and I was wrapped up in a superficial world – but she’s shown me there’s more to life.”
