The 2015/16 League Cup final will take place this afternoon, live from Wembley Stadium, as Liverpool and Manchester City battle it out for the first major domestic silverware of the campaign.
While the Citizens have fared considerably better than the inconsistent Reds overall in the Premier League this term, Jurgen Klopp’s men claimed a stunning 4-1 victory when the clubs met at the Etihad Stadium in November.
This will be Liverpool’s 12th League Cup final, a record for the competition. Of the previous 11, they’ve lifted the trophy eight times – between 1981 and 2012 – most recently against Cardiff on penalties.
Manchester City have been in four previous League Cup finals, winning in 1970, 1976 and most recently in 2014 against Sunderland. They were runners-up in 1974, losing to Wolves.
The match will be shown live on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 1 HD with live streaming on Now TV and Sky Go from 4.00pm
Kelly Cates will present highlights of the match from 8pm on Channel 5 this evening.
