David Blevins Sky News

David Blevins joined Sky News in 1996 as a reporter, and was appointed as Ireland Correspondent in 2001.

Throughout his time at Sky News David has been based in Ireland.

Since working at Sky News, David has covered Drumcree and the marching season, the Good Friday Agreement and the Omagh Bombing. He has also reported live on air during a bomb attack, when covering the Holy Cross Crisis, in September 2001.

A month later he was reporting on the IRA’s decision to decommission their weapons. David’s Omagh bomb coverage was nominated for an RTS Award in 1997, and he was Highly Commended in the Northern Ireland Media Awards in 1996.

David was educated in Portadown, and attended Trinity College of Music, London, before moving to the BBC-sponsored E-Force Media Training Centre, Belfast.

David’s first journalistic job was as a local weekly newspaper reporter on the Banbridge Chronicle, and later the Portadown Times.

David had a stint on a commercial publication while acting as a weekend presenter on Downtown Radio and Cool FM. Within a couple of years he had joined the radio station as a reporter. He moved from radio to television in 1996, when he joined Sky News.
