The BBC will today broadcast live coverage of the 40th London Marathon.
Coverage gets underway at 7am on BBC Two, where the women’s elite race is the first to get under way, then switches to BBC One at 10am as the elite men’s race gets underway.
The field includes world record holder and defending champion Eliud Kipchoge.
British four-time Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah is the pacemaker for this year’s men’s race, which will take place in a bio-secure closed course that will consist of 1.5 mile laps, taking in the iconic sights of The Mall, Horse Guards Parade and Buckingham Palace.
The event takes place in very different circumstances this year, as the leading racers in the world will battle it out for the titles, while around 45,000 runners will take part in the ?virtual’ London Marathon.
Unlike previous London Marathons, athletes will cover 19 laps of St. James’s Park, then move to the Mall for the traditional finish.
Coverage will be fronted by Gabby Logan with commentary by Steve Cram and Andrew Cotter.
Highlights will be shown on BBC Two from 11.35pm on Sunday night.
