BBC Scotland has won the rights to televise all of Scotland’s international away matches in the country’s campaign to qualify for Euro 2012. The broadcaster will show live coverage of Scotland’s four away games as well as TV highlights of the country’s home qualifying matches.
Scotland’s first game will be in Lithuania on 3 September, which will be followed by a match in the Czech Republic on 8 October. The second set of games will take place in 2011 – in Liechtenstein on 8 October and then Spain (the reigning World and European champions) on 12 October.
The 2012 UEFA European Cup will take place in Poland and Ukraine. All the home nations failed to qualify for Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.
BBC Scotland also announced that they have secured the rights to the radio coverage for the country’s international home games until 2014.
Ewan Angus, Head of Sport at BBC Scotland, said: “Securing the rights for these vital fixtures…underline our commitment to being a broadcaster of live football”.
