BBC Olympic 2012 presenter John Inverdale was in tears today as he interviewed silver medalists Mark Hunter and Zac Purchase.

The pair came second in the lightweight men’s double sculls losing out to Denmark’s Mads Rasmussen and Rasmus Quist, who took the gold.

John, who was positioned along the course with Steve Redgrave, interviewed the duo before they collected their medal.

Breathless and sobbing, the pair apologised for letting everyone down. “You let no-one down at all,” says John, before his voice starts to crack with emotion.
