Channel 4 News’ Cathy Newman staged a sit-in at BBC’s headquarters this morning.

She was at the BBC to question the director-general about gender pay but the corporation pulled the interview, “despite doing every other broadcast outlet.”

“Now staging a sit-in at @BBC HQ until we get the interview with the director-general confirmed yesterday,” said Cathy on Twitter.

“Cancelled because of ‘time issues’ – yet interviews with other outlets before & after ARE taking place. I’m prepared for a long wait.”

30 minutes later Cathy tweeted: “Breaking news…suspending sit-in at @BBC HQ as promised an interview in the next half an hour with the Director-General. Thanks for all your support.”

The interview will air on tonight’s Channel 4 News from 7.00pm.
