Danny Carpenter – Q&A

Name?
Danny Carpenter

Age?
44

Where are you from?
Nowhere really but I’ve lived most of my adult life in Yorkshire so that’s home!

How did you get started in broadcasting?
Started on a local paper in Hampshire 23 years ago and went downhill from there.

Why News broadcasting?
I know it sounds trite but I do news because I believe it’s important. Informed people make informed choices and that’s critical to democracy.

Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
I was on BBC local Radio before Look North and I’ve done a few stints for News 24.

What is your Best on-air moment?
Meeting Socrates (the footballer not the philosopher) was a high point.

What is your Worst on-air moment?
Mistakenly reading out in a radio bulletin A bum has exploded in North London. It should of course have been bomb.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
You’ll find me fishing, up a big hill or on my allotment.

A big thanks to Danny for taking part.
